Red Swing

As a result of the exposure during the Green Urban Lab initiative, the Interior Design students of Frederick University were invited to participate in the ‘imagine the roads festival’ in Nicosia. A shaded site beneath a mature tree which provided shade for the passerby was chosen.

In order to create a sense of place within the currently unused area two red swings were installed. Following a similar methodology red dots were installed encouraging passers-by to playfully engage with the red swings. During the festival enthusiasm was witness from both young and old. All members of society enjoyed the new playful space. The small site parallel to the busy road became a space for social interaction and play.
